Report a Bug

PreviousHelpNextCheck for Updates

Last updated 7 months ago

Upon encountering a bug, error or crash you could file a bug report to the C-Change Labs Support Team. To do this, go to Help > Report a Bug command in the bimCAT ribbon.

In the Bug Report window, click the Generate logs button and choose the resulting zip-file location.

After the logs are generated, Windows Explorer will open automatically highlighting the created zip-file.

The following kinds of data are included in the logs:

  • BIM Climate Action Tool (bimCAT) logs: the plugin and Revit information, errors, etc.;

  • BIM Climate Action Tool (bimCAT) export data: the raw data acquired from a Revit project during an export - mainly, names and quantities or Revit elements and materials;

  • BIM Climate Action Tool (bimCAT) Library Indexer logs: the Library Indexer information, errors, etc.

  • Revit journal files.

Apart from the Report a bug tool, you could find the BIM Climate Action Tool (bimCAT) logs in the following locations:

  • For Revit 2025 version: C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Local\C-Change Labs Inc\bimCAT\2025\Logs

  • For Revit 2024 version: C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Local\C-Change Labs Inc\bimCAT\2024\Logs

  • For Revit 2023 version: C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Local\C-Change Labs Inc\bimCAT\2023\Logs

  • For Revit 2022 version: C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Local\C-Change Labs Inc\bimCAT\2022\Logs

  • For Revit 2021 version: C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Local\C-Change Labs Inc\bimCAT\2021\Logs

Now you could click the URL in the Report a Bug dialog which will create an email in your default email client. Then you could describe your issue in the email, manually attach the logs zip-file you just created and send it to the C-Change Labs Support Team ().
